A r m a n d o

Named Armando Luna Guzman and born in Santo Domingo, Dom. Rep. on April 19th, 1955.
The youngest of eight children of humble parents who, in the mid forties, emigrated from the country, specifically, Bonao in the region of "El Cibao" to the city, perhaps in search of a more secure way of living. Since a very early age, Armando showed an inclination to the arts by writing poetry and songs, and a natural talent for drawing. During his high school years, participated in plays, nothing mayor, but this kind of activities helped the youngster socialize and not hang with the wrong crowd, as they say. Immigrated to the US in 1975, specifically, New York City. There he attended Hostos Community College and obtained an associate degree in Liberal Arts. Between semesters, he took other courses such as bookkeeping, a broadcasting seminar, music theory, and even a little bit of piano, just enough to develop a lot of respect for those who play this instrument.

In 1983 obtained a diploma in Computer Programming from The School of Continuing Education, then a division of NYU (New York University), for adults who may still want to pursuit a carrier.
Move back to Santo Domingo in the same year. After developing a close relation, he married Eng. Austria Mireya Medina with whom he bear their two children Armando and Stanley.

Before his production “Homenaje a los Grandes”, Armando’s involvement with the music business is very limited. Handed his lyrics to some local groups and it never led anywhere. He decided, then, to place his voice with his lyrics. It worked!

Espanol:

Nacio en Santo Domingo, Rep. Dom.
